From Christmas trees and gifts to star-shaped tree toppers and nativity scenes, symbols are everywhere during the Christmas season. But all too often, their significance gets lost in the excitement and pageantry of the holiday.
For the Magi, the greatest significance of the Star of Bethlehem wasn't the spectacle of its appearance; it was where and to whom it directed their attention. "We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him" (Matthew 2: 2).
This year, we invite you to hang the Nazarene Ornament on your Christmas tree to show solidarity with our Christian brothers and sisters who are being persecuted in the Middle East for their faith.
May the star atop your Christmas tree draw your thoughts to the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, and may the Nazarene Ornament remind you of the price sometimes required of us to follow Him.
